Mastering, a form of audio post-production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master); the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). The source material, ideally at the original resolution, is processed using equalization, compression, limiting, noise reduction and other processes. More tasks, such as editing, pre-gapping, leveling, fading in and out, noise reduction and other signal restoration and enhancement processes can be applied as part of the mastering stage. Nowadays it can be a very daunting task, and often times it’s best to seek out online song mixing from professional services or a third party music mastering service – such as ourselves.
Mastering requires critical listening, however, software tools exist to facilitate the process. Results still depend upon the accuracy of speaker monitors. Mastering engineers may also need to apply corrective equalization and dynamic enhancement in order to optimize sound translation on all playback systems. With the modern day advances in technology, it can be a headache trying to figure out how you should be mixing music online and where to go for this. It’s best to incorporate a second set of ears in this case, or at least try another individual to help you with mastering music online – we will even do a 1 minute sample of your song to make sure you’re satisfied before buying, so just ask us.
Preparation for Sending Your Track
When rendering your final stereo mix we do ask that you leave a few decibels of headroom so we have some space to work with your material (Master level peaking at -6.0db or lower). If you have any processing on the master channel please send us one version with the processing intact and one version with no processing at all; please label each file clearly. We accept and can work with all formats and file types but prefer stereo WAV or AIFF file types; please do not send lesser value formats like MP3, M4A, OGG etc.
What about Song / Music Mixing?
Of course we provide that too, but the cost is a bit different. We will mix a MAXIMUM OF 20 CHANNELS FOR THE COST BELOW. If you have more than 20 channels in your track, be sure to contact us and let us know and we can work something else out. As the price differs per size of the project.
MIXING + MASTERING PRICE
IMPORTANT: It’s super important that you leave at least 6 dB of headroom on your track. Make sure that you remove any and all plug-ins or chains on your MASTER channel. The better your mixdown sounds, the better the mastering end final product will be.
